Andrew Lian, director of Woods Bagot, said the current office does not make the prospects of a progressive society which began in 1914 as co-operative small farmers and has grown into a large company. Today, trading WESFARMERS ‘includes retail giants such as Coles, Bunnings, Target, Liquorland and Kmart, as well as the leading energy, insurance, industrial safety, chemical companies and fertilizer.
Lian said the current headquarters reflects the most prudent approach to office design that characterized the early 80s.

“It was completely partitioned cell development. Each had its own office and new staff were inevitably placed in the office at the farthest end of a long corridor, so it is difficult to ‘get to know everyone. ”
WESFARMERS IT manager Kevin D’Sylva said the redesign necessary to provide an environment more open and interactive work that would be conducive to information sharing. The company also sought to maximize daylight and views, which previously only enjoyed by staff in the office area.
